Boiler safety tips

1 in 9 Boilers inspected by Gas Safe Register are unsafe!

Check for warning signs that indicate your gas boiler is not working correctly e.g. staining on or around the boiler, the pilot light keeps going out or too much condensation in the room.

Check flue outlets are un-obstructed; never try to block draughts. If you can't see part, or all of the flue, get inspection hatches fitted immediately.

Have it safety checked every year and serviced as per the manufacturer's instructions.

Remember: Always use a Gas Safe registered engineer to fit, fix and service your gas boiler.


Cooker safety tips

1 in 12 Cookers inspected by Gas Safe Register are unsafe!

Check for warning signs that indicate your cooker is not working correctly e.g. lazy yellow flames instead of crisp blue ones or hot spots on your grill mesh resulting in uneven flames.

Never use a gas cooker to heat a room.

Have it safety checked every year and serviced as per the manufacturer's instructions.

Remember: Always use a Gas Safe registered engineer to fit, fix and service your cooker.


Gas fire safety tips

1 in 3 Gas fires inspected by Gas Safe Register are unsafe!

Check for warning signs that indicate your gas fire is not working correctly e.g. black marks or stains on or around the fire or condensation in the room when the fire is on.

Have your chimney checked for blockages (like bird's nests), that stop fumes escaping. Do this every year, however much you use it.

Have it safety checked every year and serviced as per the manufacturer's instructions.
